Love

4/20/2017

Love is a real thing.  Love is real for all of us.  There is so much cynicism these days that the beauty of this has become a marketing or callous thing.   Or it has become something that is used casually like "Good Bye" or "What's up?".  Easter recently passed and we all saw the stuff we usually see.  Eggs rolling on lawns happened.  People got dressed up and the weather was great.  That put me in a pretty good mood.  So, then I started thinking about love.  I believe that what happened when Jesus came back and was resurrected was all about love.  Love that we should emulate to everyone, all the time.
We know that we don't love each other.  There are many examples of us hurting each other.  For what?  We (humans) are nuts to hurt each other. We may the only ones of our kind in the universe. We are only on this earth for a second.  We as a species need each other for survival.  Hurting each other is dumb because hurting one person in essence hurts us all cumulatively.  Why do we want to hurt ourselves?  Do we want vengeance? or power? or do we think hurt feels good.  If it does, then love makes us feel a thousand times better.
Easter to me is the best holiday of the year.  It is not about gifts, or marketing, or partying.  It was and is only about love.  I wish and hope that we could make it our real New Year.  The world was transformed in this moment and given an example of love that has lasted for thousands of years.  If we took a moment of each day and took each engagement with others as an opportunity.  An opportunity to show love versus receiving it.  Showing love in each email, text, post, handshake, and hug allows us to be what we really are and ultimately what will become.

This year has started out...good.  Q1!

Many companies at this time of the year release quarterly earnings.  The goal is for them to tell shareholders how the company is performing.  Many people huddle in board rooms, webinars  and phones to hear the CEO, the CFO, and others talk about how they are going to crush it or recover from their first quarter.  I am personally an earnings geek so I do listen to these and then try to get as many annual reports from the previous year as I can.
I began to think about whether it makes sense to do an evaluation of myself for the first quarter.  It didn't take long for me to answer yes to my own question.  This can probably link to the questions and debates we all have about resolutions and goal setting for the coming year.  Having a quarterly assessment may just be the charge I need to keep going.  I appreciate you helping me look inward.
Pros: or Total Revenue, Deposits, Income, or some business term for good stuff:
  • I invested in having one of my completed plays read by some great actors just as the year started.  It was a great way to energize this year and contrast the most recent three years which have been quite challenging.  I learned that working with people on a creative pursuit is indeed the personification of whom I am.  The momentum will be realized as we put on the full production this year. Please stay with me for more information.
  • I have lost ten pounds.  It may not seem like much, but as I get older weight is definitely more difficult to lose.  I have learned that diet is as important as exercise.  I use an app called "Lose it" to track everything I eat.  I can also scan some items through this app. I also exercise for one hour five days a week.  When I measure stuff, stuff happens.
  • I have become more in touch spiritually.  Spending time with people that are in a similar place in their life has been amazing.  I have committed more to quiet time with God and I have been very consistent with journaling.  As I move in small steps in my spiritual life I am getting better at life.
Opportunities: Or Liabilities, Costs (I know the analogy, has lost steamed)
  • Patience.  I am super impatient.  Right now, I don't feel I have done enough to move forward.  I have been using Todoist, Bullet Journaling, and Evernote and my system is really humming but I feel incomplete each day.
  • Laziness or Binge-ing.  I beat myself for binging on shows like the "Greenleafs" or "Iron Fist".  As much as I like these shows I feel bad about it like I had a tub of Cherry Garcia ice cream.
As I move into Q2, I do feel like this year is going to be a fantastic year.  There is ton for me to personally celebrate in 2017.  I have a great group of family and friends that have been supportive.  If you have any questions, I would love to share with you in any way that would be helpful.  We are all going to crush it!
