I had a chance this weekend to see people using hands to help each other. I was part of an amazing group of people that helped to bring Jackson Live to the world. Many people had way more hands and work in it than I, but it was amazing to see. Savvy Foundation really helped to bring together the talent of Jackson to life with some incredible people like Maranda Joiner. Seeing those actual hands in movement made me think about the opportunities that exists for all of us.
A great deal of time we use our mouth to accomplish things. I love to use my mouth that is for sure and anyone that knows me can help to affirm this fact. Our mouth should be the item we use to begin the process, but our hands the instrument to get whatever it is done. We use them for so many things. We build, high-five, draw, paint, write, and hold things. A great deal of those activities force us to put our hands and fingers in certain positions to accomplish the task.
What if we used them in a different way. Open your hand, stretch our fingers, and give it to someone. Give them our hand. Don't analyze it. Don't put it in a box. Let them choose what to do with it. Be surprised to whatever their need is. Try it with me. Raise your hand, open your fingers and push your hand out. Do it to everyone you can. It might create some tasks for you. Something to build, or something to write, but here is the reality. Giving our hand to someone, anyone, creates power for them, but it also creates power for us. Our heart gets one more sliver of gold each time we give our hands to someone.
