In a world that often glorifies perfection and celebrates flawless achievements, the idea of being an imperfect human can be challenging to accept. We're bombarded with images of success, beauty, and flawlessness, leaving little room for acknowledging our inherent imperfections. But what if I told you that it's precisely because of our imperfections that many individuals find solace and purpose in following the teachings of Jesus?
The concept of imperfection is deeply ingrained in human nature. No one is free from making mistakes, experiencing failures, or facing personal struggles. It's in these moments of vulnerability and imperfection that our yearning for something greater often emerges. And for many, that "something greater" is a spiritual connection – a path that leads them to Jesus Christ. 1. A Relatable Savior: One of the remarkable aspects of Jesus' story is that he chose to immerse himself in the human experience. He was born in humble circumstances, surrounded by imperfections, and faced numerous challenges during his time on Earth. This relatability is a beacon of hope for those who grapple with their own imperfections. Jesus doesn't demand perfection; rather, he offers love, forgiveness, and understanding. He walked amongst the flawed and downtrodden, embracing them for who they were. 2. Grace and Redemption: Central to the teachings of Jesus is the concept of grace and redemption. His message is one of unconditional love and forgiveness, regardless of the mistakes we've made. Imperfect humans find solace in the idea that they can be redeemed, that their past errors do not define their future. This message resonates deeply with individuals who yearn for a fresh start and a chance to overcome their imperfections. 3. Community and Acceptance: Following Jesus is not a solitary journey; it's a path that encourages building connections and finding a supportive community. In these communities, imperfection is not shunned; instead, it's acknowledged as part of the shared human experience. Churches and religious groups often become safe spaces where individuals can express their struggles without fear of judgment. This acceptance fosters an environment of growth and mutual support. 4. Purpose Beyond Perfection: While the world may idolize perfection, the teachings of Jesus offer an alternative perspective. Following Jesus means understanding that our worth isn't solely determined by our achievements or appearances. Instead, it's grounded in our inherent value as human beings. Imperfections become part of a larger narrative – they are not roadblocks but stepping stones toward personal growth and spiritual fulfillment. 5. Humility and Compassion: Walking the path of imperfection alongside Jesus fosters qualities such as humility and compassion. Recognizing our own flaws allows us to extend understanding and empathy to others who are also grappling with their imperfections. This shared human experience cultivates a sense of interconnectedness and encourages a desire to uplift those around us. In Conclusion: Being an imperfect human can be daunting, but it's an integral aspect of our existence. Acknowledging our imperfections doesn't mean resigning ourselves to a life of stagnation; rather, it opens the door to growth, learning, and transformation. For many, the teachings of Jesus provide a guiding light through this journey. They remind us that imperfection doesn't diminish our worth; it's an essential part of what makes us human. Through grace, love, and acceptance, the path of following Jesus offers imperfect individuals a source of hope, purpose, and a way to navigate the complexities of life with compassion and authenticity. I'm so humbled by the imperfections and my ability to love. God has created us humans not to dominate but to grow abundantly. A fellow follower of Jesus and brother shared this video. I've heard this song countless times, but it felt and sounded different today. I'm thankful that I live in a time in which I can hear news instantly from anywhere in the world. On some days, this can feel like a ponderous responsibility. I feel the real tension. My gut twists as we hear news about strife close and thousands of miles away. What can I do? My belief is that God's instruction are pretty clear. Loving everyone and everything on this globe is the paramount charge of my life. I mean love by action. A kind word, praying with a friend, and living authentic moments are some of my actions within my control. It's hard. I and maybe you wish to quantify every moment. What did I get? I hear this so many times without the words being uttered.
Take solace, that the action of love may be the only opportunity we have at this moment. I have to acknowledge the energy of selfishness, scarcity, and worry that crops up each day in my heart. I won''t divorce myself from the world. I will find moments to lean in. Lean into love, hope, and possibilities. What do you think? You are a masterpiece. I'm asking for a friend.:-). Some times I have to slow down to speed up. I still have moments of intense fear. I don't know why. I have a plan and a goal for every aspect of life. When this happens, I lean into what's important. More acutely, who is important. I've made a bold decision to place everything I've ever done on this site. All the videos, articles, andcreativity throughout my life will be here. They will be here for free. I'll curate them, but I believe whatever I've ever done, is not mine. God and the universe gave me a gift and I owe it to the whole world to give it. All I ask is that you become a member, so I can hopefully be engaged and intimate with how I can help you. I do feel my calling is to pour into you everything I can. I will do it. From this to my last day on this plane of existence.
One of the key things I've incorporated into my productivity life is prayer. Prayer not for myself but for this world (I know, I'm in the world). I do share the gratitude for all things and those who are on this spinning globe. I also hope to have an open mindset as the day commences. You never know what it will bring you. I was in a borderline argument with someone early in the morning. It wasn't pretty. Shortly thereafter, I had a senior executive give me recognition on a call with thousands of people. People were hitting me up most of the day, but I kept thinking about the morning. I prayed (got on my knees) for the person I had a disagreement with. I dug deep (detective work) to find out that there was a hidden X (look for a future post on this topic) that had stressed them out and they were reacting. Most of us do some type of prayer or meditation each day. Doing it early and often gives you the foundation for a productive day. It allows you to weather your ups and downs and stay focused.
