There is a profound grace in simply being here. In pausing long enough to truly feel the weight and the wonder of the present moment.
Reading this feature in VoyageATL was a moment of deep reflection for me. We talked about my path—from the island breeze of Jamaica to the streets of New York, and now, my life here in Atlanta. We discussed the unique duality of my journey: spending thirty years building a corporate career while simultaneously pouring my soul into my creative life as a playwright.
Since my diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, the lens through which I see these two worlds has shifted. I’ve learned that tomorrow isn't promised to any of us, and that makes today—this very breath—sacred. My spirituality informs every step of this journey; it is the anchor that holds me steady and the quiet voice reminding me that even in uncertainty, I am guided by a greater purpose.
It’s why I write my plays with such urgency now. The stage isn't just about performance for me; it’s about legacy. It's about stripping away the mask and sharing the raw, beautiful truth of what it means to be human while we have the chance.
