As I write this, the world is going through some serious upheaval. Pandemics are all over, the specter of war doesn’t seem to have any intention of abatement, and the march of climate change affects communities and lives in incalculable ways. When we overlay this with the rapid advancement of technology which displaces industries, jobs, and economic systems there is some much for us to grapple with daily. My suggestion is we do something that God has given us the power to do. It is within every child, every senior, and every soul. You hear that and many things immediately come to mind. Prayer, Love, Service, and Giving are some powerful examples. Those are good (even great) and we should do them relentlessly and without reservation. They should all be incorporated into our daily workflows and plans. I am referencing to us creating something, anything beautiful in this world. Many of us do this almost unconsciously and don’t give it the recognition it deserves. We label it only as a verb versus the noun that can transform our lives and mindset. I am here to tell you, that I believe in this time of all times, this is what and who we are. We are creators. We exist now, and we don’t need permission to be us and our spirit desires. When we create we release tension, effect depression, and most of all give our talent to the world. That talent has a ripple effect on everyone and everything it touches. We deserve to bask in the wake of your creativity. When we say “create” that is sometimes too nebulous a term for some of us. Or it gets labeled as relegated to those in the “arts”. There are so many Creatives that run the gamut from engineers to artists and everything in between. In doing the podcast for Rising Tides Charity (Creativity Cocktail), we have been encountered by a myriad of creators that are making abundant energy and tools for everyone. We have had two chefs, three makeup artists, a therapist, several authors, and of course incredible people in the entertainment industry. Each story has been different and has impacted me and our audience with different results. I think about scientists, mathematicians, app makers, fashion designers, singers, painters and so many more that have been placed on this orb to give their talent to us. Think about the people you know. Each one of them is either a creator, used to be a creator, or wants to be a creator. What do you create? There is something whether you know it or not. While the world barrages us with some many things to consider, distract, or combat, take a moment to be you. Being you is creating something using your mind (create in mind first, then use your hands sometimes). The people you love have probably seen it before and can point it out if you are having difficulty unearthing it. When seven billion decide to create something that beautifies, assists, entertains, or educates this world’s cycle of division, xenophobia, or classicism cannot thrive. Create something now!
