Creation and/or Destruction

Are these the same thing?  Are they intertwined? In order to create do we need to destroy?  To create a home do we need to destroy trees and resources?  The answer to that question is obviously yes.  Is what has already been created in the world more true? Is it more real than what we manufacture?   I confront this daily.  I hear terms such as innovation and think about the consequences of our progress if we don't see the world around us.  Let me be clear, I would not want to live in any other time in human history nor in any other country.  This wonderful world allows me to ponder such things freely. Even when I'm writing stories and creating worlds the key is "conflict". Even if that is conflict is internal.  That conflict can and seems to lead to the destruction (in most good stories) of something so something else can be created. How do we as humans create without destroying?   By the way I am not saying that there is anything wrong with creation linked to destruction.  We love houses, cars, space stations,   I believe there are simple ways to create in our world that adds real energy and heart. 

• Relationships.  I don't mean give or take, quid pro quo, or a business transaction.  I mean real relationships with each of person we genuinely encounter.  Slow walking when we say "How are you doing?" Focusing on what we can do for another person as our primary focus on each relationship.  What I'm proposing sounds like work.  What I'm proposing sounds inconvenient.  I would propose that relationships is one of the only things that is real.   It can be inconvenient  but it is a priority.  When I was younger, I was on this powerful journey to acquire stuff.  None of that "stuff" I remember now that I round the second base (in years) of life.  I do remember all the real relationships.  They are the most clear things in my mind. The journey from now until my last day is and will be, relationships.  
• Art.  You probably hear or have said  "I'm no artist."  My observation has been that I see people creating art everywhere, all the time.  Whether you are creating an app, or fixing an engine, influencing a potential client or raising a child.  It looks like art to me.  What I am proposing is that whatever you do, there is an opportunity to infuse it with so much passion that it becomes your personal art.  Your personal art is yours and cannot be compromised or taken from you, ever. 
• Partner.  Sometimes we have to align whatever organization we are part of with another organization.  There is real creation that happens when groups can become aligned.  Whatever role we play in such a combination is creation.  I ask you to think what your organization(s) and groups are focused on and how you can cultivate genuine relationships and solid partnerships.  Those links will outlast whatever project, meeting, or agreement, forever.   

Creation can indeed happen without destruction.  There are probably more reasons than the ones I have cited. This almost rudimentary acronym helps me to remember each and every morning and gives a tangible mission.  I believe in creation and creating in all things.  I think it is what makes us different than any other creatures.   We just have to remember it each day.  Our egos and the "stuff" we want and need is subordinate.  Our real creation begins and ends with people.   Next time you think about the people in your life or those who come into your life, remember it's a WRAP.  Focusing on relationships, art, and partners will allow us to WIN and put  energy into each person .  That type of creation cannot be destroyed.
